Lunar Eclipse night of 20th Dec 2010.
Clouds finally cleared and I managed to snap a series of shots using a Nikon D60 and a 600mm lens on a non-tracking tripod. Have placed half eclipsed phases either side of totaly eclipsed phase to highlight size of earth's shadow as it obscures the moon (yellow circle). The Earth's shadow at the moon is approximately 2.6 times bigger than the full-moon. Exposure details, ISO1600, F11, 1/125 sec either side of full eclipse, F5.6, 10 sec at full eclipse (hence the blur in the image).
