M008 Lagoon Nebula/M20 Trifid Nebula
Not really having much luck with these. I thought this one would turn out better using a LP filter but no luck. I think the major issue is noise (uncooled/unmodified Canon short exposures under light pollution but I've seen better images with DSLR under similar circumstances). I'm still not ready for guiding and will try manual dithering next time out (with fewer frames and then process in Adobe Camera Raw). Taken July 23rd at LVAAS South Mountain Observatory. 60 subs at 45 sec, ISO 800 plus 25 darks unguided. Equipment: Orion 80 mm CFT, Baader Moon and Sky Glow filter, Celestron AVX, unmoded Canon T1i. Processing: Captured in Backyard EOS, stacked in Deep Sky Stacker, final processing in PS CS3,with Gradient Xterminator and Noel Carboni Astronomy Tools. I still haven't used masks in PS.
