Scouting Programs
The Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomical Society is proud to support Girl Scout and Cub Scout astronomy programs.
Contact Our Scouting Coordinator
To inquire about astronomy programs for your scout group, please contact Claudio M. Stabile, LVAAS Scouting Activities Coordinator.
Badge Requirements
Scout badge requirements are revised periodically. LVAAS does not maintain current badge requirements. If your troop is working toward a specific badge or requirement, please include those requirements in your email request so we can plan an appropriate program.
Before Your Visit
Please share the following information with everyone attending:
- Adult supervision is required for your group at all times.
- LVAAS volunteers are not responsible for supervising scouts or visitors.
- Children under 7 years old, including siblings, should not attend.
- Please leave flashlights, light-up shoes, glow toys, and other bright lights at home. Preserving darkness is essential for astronomy.
- Cell phones should be placed on silent and remain in pockets or bags during the program. Bright screens interfere with everyone’s night vision.
- No running or horseplay is permitted. Programs take place in the dark around sensitive and expensive astronomical equipment.
Scheduling
Session dates depend on the availability of both LVAAS facilities and volunteer presenters. Because schedules can change, available dates cannot be guaranteed until confirmed.
Supporting Our Programs
The Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomical Society is a non-profit organization staffed entirely by volunteers.
There is no charge for our scouting programs, although donations are always appreciated and help us continue offering educational outreach.
