Many LVAAS volunteers are traveling to the path of totality, to try to observe a total solar eclipse on August 21. As of this time, LVAAS is not planning any eclipse-specific activities. If that changes, it will be posted here and on our homepage.

Here is a list or activities in the area that we know about:

  • Bucks-Mont Astronomy Club will be hosting a viewing event with locations as yet to be announced: (mostly near Philly).
  • United Astronomy Clubs of New Jersey will host an event at Jenny Jump.
  • The Franklin Institute is having a big eclipse event.

  • An Eclipse Party will be held at the Nurture Nature Center, 518 Northampton St, Easton, on Monday, August 21, from 1 - 4 pm.
1:00 - 1:30 pm  - Join us for a Science on a Sphere program about why eclipses occur.  Then at 1:45 pm join us at the back of the building on Pine St. between 5th and 6th Sts. to view the progress of the eclipse via telescopes or free eclipse viewing glasses.  Light refreshments.  Donations appreciated.
