Hey all -

I'm getting ready to organize an Astronomy Study Group for the society, but one which is going to be web or email based rather than hold weekly meetings.

I've taken a number of distance learning courses over the years, and I've found the technique pretty useful. I'd like to try it here. Perhaps we'll be able to increase the number of members willing to participate if they don't have to drive to a meeting.

Please let me know if you're interested. You can either respond here on the forum, or send me an email at asg@lvaas.net.

Count me in. We can set up a separate are of the forum, and then each topic or lesson could be another thread.

Great.

And in separate news - I can log in today. If anyone made a change, Thanks!

Copernicus had those Renaissance ladies
Crazy about his telescope
And Galileo had a name that made his
Reputation higher than his hopes
Did none of those astronomers discover
While they were staring out into the dark
That what a lady looks for in her lover
Is Charm, Strangeness and Quark
HAWKWIND - QUARK, STRANGENESS AND CHARM

When was the last time you tried to log in? There was some software change maybe.... 6-8 weeks ago. But none since.

Perhaps the fates have just decided to smile upon me. Grin. At any rate, I can now login to the board pretty consistently and use all my favority RSS tools to keep up with the board.

Thanks all for indicating your interest. I've had a couple of people shoot me emails as well.

Looks like there's a pretty good group willing to get started.

Now a question for all of you and for Mike - which method shall we use to share our ideas? A web board or an email list?

I think it would be helpful to limit the people who read the discussion to those who have committed themselves to being part of the group. I've seen too many discussions get side-tracked by folks just dropping in.
